2007
- New Owners
Miguel and Stacy Casimiro
2007 – A
change of hands…
For the past 4
years, Stacy, an avid wine lover, grew to love Ye Old Dominion
Wine Shop. She brought many friends and family to this quaint
shop; over time, a friendship with the owners and wonderful
staff ensued. Taking a leap of faith, Stacy made an offer
to purchase this unique shop. The current owner, Jan Carper,
who was ready to enjoy her lake home, took Stacy up on her
offer.
Stacy and her husband,
Miguel, plan to keep Old Dominion Wine “Virginia Wine,
All the Time.” They’ll add their own professional
expertise, and some unique charcuterie and a few special
events throughout the year. They’ll continue their
loyalty to the friends of the Old Dominion Wine Shop, its
dynamic staff, and the Virginia wine industry.

"We
are keeping Old Dominion Wine, Virginia Wine, all the
time, with a little twist" - Stacy Casimiro |
How it all started......
Mari
and Janet, who are best friends, moms and housewives, were looking for
a way to expand their lives outside of the home. After researching the
developing Virginia wine industry, Jan’s husband suggested
that they explore marketing opportunities in that area. Mari and Janet
began calling vineyards to ask if they could use some promotional help.
Their first steps into the industry were by way of sales representation.
They introduced Virginia wine to restaurants, country clubs and small
stores throughout Northern Virginia. Then, fate intervened as the two
friends visited Occoquan. When four different merchants mentioned a
quaint shop available for rent, they decided to take a look at it. It
was perfect for a wine cellar! With mixed emotions and lots of prayer,
they jumped in with both feet!
That was seven years ago,
in September 2000. In 2005, Mari moved on to a new chapter in her life.
She remarried and is very happy. Janet continued on with the shop and
the same commitment to providing many enjoyable Virginia wines to the
people of Northern Virginia.
