A superb red, created and released only in exceptional
vintages such as 1991, 1995, 1998, based on Merlot and other Bordeaux
varietals. The massive tannin structure is tamed by extended aging in
French oak barrels. Dark in color with a superb aroma of plum, cassis
and tobacco, its complex flavors are well integrated with a silky
finish.

Awarded the 2011 Virginia Governor’s Cup for red wines, the
top award given for wines grown in Virginia. A Meritage blend of Cabernet Franc and Merlot. Concentrated black cherry, dense stewed fruits and crushed ripe damsons marry unbelievably well in the handcrafted jewel. The soft Bordeaux like structure resembles their European elegance, style and charm. The fruits continue to hold the oak back until right near the finish and then the fresh toasty oak gently reveals itself forward. Enticing, complex and enjoyable.

As promising as the 2007 vintage (winner of the 2010 Governor's Cup), our flagship wine is showing its potential early. This blend of 52% Merlot, 25% Petit Verdot, 15% Cabernet Franc, and 8% Malbec has a dark garnet color and nose of black cherry, plum, toasted almond and sandalwood. The mouth is subtle with great structure, balanced tannin, dark fruits, violet, vanilla and hints of anise and tamarind. The finish is long, lingering and smooth; a glimpse of the aging potential. Drink now through 2016.
